Mr Yewlett is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Shoulder and Elbow conditions. He provides a private “one” stop shoulder ultrasound diagnostic service and is a high volume shoulder arthroplasty surgeon.
He uses published evidence to inform his decision making process and will only suggest a surgical solution for a problem when there is no better non-surgical alternative and will tailor his treatment to the needs and expectations of the individual.
He is an advocate of “wide-awake” surgery and performs many cases under regional anaesthesia, avoiding the risks of general anaesthesia. He works with a team that is very experienced with local anaesthetic procedures which allows him to offer many procedures that can be performed in the clinic setting.
He has been awarded the national certificate of excellence from the iwantgreatcare website for two years in succession in recognition of his outstanding and consistently excellent feedback from patients and has won a silver clinical excellence for his NHS practice. He is passionate about innovation to improve patient care and was an early adopter of the “mi-eye” technology that allows for an in-office diagnostic dynamic arthroscopy and some treatments to be performed in the office setting. In recognition of his international expertise with this, he was recognised by the Alliance insurance group as a named operator to perform this on their corporate patients if indicated in 2019.
He sits on the national ODEP committee for shoulder and elbow arthroplasty and has won several national awards from the British Elbow and Shoulder Society. His NHS base is with the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, however, since 2020 he also holds an honorary consultant contract with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in recognition of his tertiary elbow practice with respect to elbow arthroplasty.
He also maintains an active medicolegal practice in recognition of his expertise with shoulder and elbow complaints and is frequently asked to provide second opinions on complex cases from around the country.
